The MenoWiser® Analysis
You’re not going crazy. Your symptoms are connected.
You’re not going crazy.
Your symptoms are connected.
Perimenopausal symptoms cross medical specialties, no single doctor has all the relevant expertise in one place. MenoWiser combines your symptom questionnaire, blood test results and DNA profile with a referenced scientific knowledge base, structured into decision models developed from our own DNA research involving nearly 200 women. AI can survey the entire field at once and rapidly identify connections. The result is an evidence-based overview that helps you and your doctor investigate your symptoms more effectively, while medical decisions, such as prescribing medication or determining treatment, always remain with your doctor.
How MenoWiser analyses your symptoms
The problem you’re facing
Heart palpitations. Insomnia. A brain that no longer seems to work the way it used to. Anxiety that appears out of nowhere, joints that suddenly start causing problems, skin that seems to react to everything. You see your GP, a cardiologist, a gynaecologist, perhaps a psychiatrist. Each looks at their own piece of the puzzle. And each tells you, in their own way: “I can’t find anything.”
That isn’t because of you, and it isn’t because of those doctors. It’s the nature of these symptoms. Perimenopausal symptoms cross medical specialties. The interplay between hormones, the brain, the immune system, the cardiovascular system and your genetic predisposition cannot be neatly divided along the boundaries of medical specialties. No single medical training programme covers that entire field. A gynaecologist isn’t trained in the oestrogen–mast cell axis, an immunologist isn’t trained in neurosteroids, and a cardiologist isn’t trained in how a particular DNA variant may affect histamine metabolism. The knowledge exists, but it’s fragmented across disciplines that rarely communicate with one another.
That is precisely the gap MenoWiser aims to bridge.
What we bring together
A MenoWiser analysis brings together four elements that would normally never sit on the same table.
Your individual picture
An extensive symptom questionnaire, your blood test results and your DNA profile. Not a snapshot, but a rich, personalised pattern.
The MenoWiser Reference Library
A carefully curated and continuously updated collection of scientific research, covering cardiovascular health, breast cancer, migraine, mast cells and histamine, testosterone, progesterone and neurosteroids. Every component is referenced to its source and explicitly takes counterarguments into account. No unsupported opinions, no gut feelings: referenced evidence, critically examined.
Clusters and mechanisms from our own research
The structure of this knowledge base didn’t come out of nowhere. It grew out of a DNA analysis involving nearly 200 women experiencing severe symptoms during perimenopause, in which we examined underlying overlap and recurring mechanisms. This research led to the clusters we work with today.
Protocols from leading menopause specialists
Our decision models don’t exist in isolation from international clinical practice. They build on the protocols and guidelines used by leading experts in the menopause field.
These four layers come together in our decision modules: structured decision models that systematically compare your personal data against the knowledge base, mechanism by mechanism.
Where AI makes the difference
This is where artificial intelligence comes in and it’s important to understand exactly what it does and doesn’t do.
What AI is exceptionally good at is holding a vast amount of knowledge at once and rapidly identifying connections across the boundaries of medical specialties. Where a doctor has an overview of one particular field, AI can survey multiple fields simultaneously: cardiovascular literature alongside immunology, neuroendocrinology and your specific genetic variants. It doesn’t get tired, it doesn’t skip a cluster, and it can identify combinations in seconds that could take a human days to piece together if a single person possessed all the necessary expertise in the first place. And no one does.
That is its real strength. Not “smarter than your doctor”, but capable of seeing more of the map at once.
Where humans remain indispensable
And now perhaps the most important part, because it’s fundamental to why you can trust this analysis.
AI is powerful at retrieving knowledge and proposing connections. It is weaker at weighing uncertainty and it can sound convincing even when it is wrong. Leading research in this field is clear on this point: AI on its own is not ready to make medical decisions independently. Its responsible role is to provide support under expert supervision.
That’s why MenoWiser is designed so that AI never has the final say. AI opens up the field — generating a broad range of possible mechanisms, including the evidence for and against each one, grounded in the Reference Library. I then assess those possibilities: which connections are clinically meaningful in your particular situation, which can be ruled out, and which warrant further investigation. And the final medical decision, whether that means a prescription or another form of treatment, remains with a doctor. Two pairs of human eyes, exactly where they matter most.
AI proposes. Humans decide.
AI in healthcare is no longer an experiment
The idea that AI has a place in serious medicine is neither new nor radical.
It is already being used every day in Dutch hospitals.
AI helps radiologists detect small nodules on CT scans that can be extremely difficult to identify with the naked eye, including in research conducted at Jeroen Bosch Hospital and Radboud University Medical Center.
Applications such as Behold.ai support the detection of lung cancer on X-rays.
The consumer app SkinVision assesses moles for melanoma risk, with a reported sensitivity of around 95%.
AI is also being used to support ENT examinations, infection prediction and decision-making in intensive care.
But there is an important pattern here. Each of these applications is narrow in scope and thoroughly validated: in the words of a radiologist from Utrecht, it can “do one thing very well”. And in every case, the specialist remains ultimately responsible. AI assists and supports. The human decides.
MenoWiser applies that same principle — support under human supervision — to an area that medicine has neglected for too long: the complex, cross-specialty symptoms experienced by women during perimenopause.
What this means for you
You won’t receive a ready-made answer. You’ll receive an evidence-based, traceable analysis of the mechanisms that best explain your symptoms, built from your own data, tested against referenced evidence, structured according to decision models, and assessed by a human. An analysis you can use together with your doctor to finally start asking the right questions.
Because you’re not going crazy. Your symptoms are real, and they are connected. What was missing was someone, and something, capable of seeing the entire field at once and making those connections visible.
A MenoWiser analysis is an evidence-based mechanistic analysis. It is not a medical diagnosis and does not replace your doctor. Treatment decisions are always made by a licensed physician.
