MenoWiser®

Neuroendocrine symptom analysis for women in perimenopause and postmenopause

You’re not going crazy.
You’re going through a transition.

You’re sleeping worse. You’re more easily irritated. You find it harder to concentrate, or suddenly feel anxious for no apparent reason. And everyone tells you: it’s just part of it. You’ve got a lot on your plate, after all.

But that’s not the whole story. What you’re feeling has a cause.
And that cause can be understood.

What’s really happening

In many cases, these symptoms are hormonal. But it’s not just about your hormone levels. Your brain, stress system, energy and ability to recover are changing too.

When these systems become imbalanced, you can start to feel like you’re losing yourself. Not because there’s something wrong with you, but because the connections between these systems are often overlooked.

What is MenoWiser?

MenoWiser® is a neuroendocrine analysis model that doesn’t look at symptoms in isolation, but as part of an interconnected system. We identify the connections between what’s happening in your body, so it becomes clear what may really be underlying your symptoms, and where to start first.

Hormones
Oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and how fluctuations in these hormones affect your system.

Stress system
How much strain are you under, and how sensitive has your body become? The HPA axis as a key piece of the puzzle.

Neurotransmitters
Serotonin, dopamine and GABA, the chemical messengers that influence mood, sleep and concentration.

Genetic predisposition
Not every woman responds in the same way. Your DNA partly determines how you experience perimenopause.

These connections aren’t based on assumptions. Together with Eveline van der Wel — MD, specialised in interpreting comprehensive Genetic Profiles — I, Suzanne Rethans, analysed genetic and clinical data from women experiencing severe symptoms. Rather than looking at isolated symptoms, we identified recurring clusters that may help explain why some women become severely dysregulated while others experience hardly any symptoms at all.

Slower methylation

Impaired oestrogen metabolism

Overactive immune system

Dysregulated neurotransmitters

Histamine sensitivity

Oxidative stress & vascular health

What you’ll get

No generic list of recommendations.

No “eat healthier and exercise more.”

Instead, you’ll receive an analysis tailored to who you are, where you are in your journey, and what needs your attention first.

An in-depth analysis of your situation, based on your symptoms, stage of life, stress load and capacity for recovery.

Clear insight into underlying patterns, so you understand what’s happening and why.

A personalised recovery pathway in the right order, because the sequence can determine whether an intervention helps or has the opposite effect.

An evidence-based letter for your doctor, so you can go into the conversation with your healthcare provider well prepared.

For years, I’ve been exploring one central question: why do so many women in perimenopause feel as though they’re losing themselves, while the medical system tells them there’s nothing wrong? I help women and their doctors understand what may really be underlying their symptoms. Within MenoWiser, I focus on women in early perimenopause who are experiencing increasing symptoms of tension and insomnia and who may primarily need progesterone, something that isn’t currently addressed in Dutch GP guidelines. I also analyse DNA and symptoms using the MenoWiser model.

With a background in both medicine and business administration, I learned to take a holistic approach: not solving one isolated issue, but understanding the system as a whole. Within MenoWiser, I conduct the DNA analyses and translate DUTCH test results into practical insights. I also supported Suzanne in developing the methodology.

You don’t have to wait until it gets worse. Especially in early perimenopause, there’s a lot you can do to help prevent symptoms from progressing.
